READING PASSAGE
Your school is celebrating Friendship Day. Your teacher has asked you to read this story to your classmates. You will now present the story to the class.
On his very first day at his new school, Ravi sat alone at the corner of the canteen, staring down at his untouched plate of noodles.
He had moved to Singapore only a week earlier, and everything still felt strange and unfamiliar. The other children already had their own groups of friends, and Ravi did not know how to join in, so he simply kept quiet.
At the next table sat Marcus, who noticed the new boy sitting all by himself. He remembered how lonely he had felt on his own first day, years ago. Without a second thought, he picked up his tray and walked straight over.
"Is this seat taken?" Marcus asked with a friendly grin. "You look like you could use some company."
Ravi looked up, surprised, and slowly smiled for the first time all day. By the end of recess, the two boys were chatting and laughing as though they had known each other for years.
Sometimes, the kindest thing you can do is simply pull up a chair.
